Help shelter the homeless with your car donation in america

The Living Room is a drop-in daytime shelter for at-risk and homeless women and children. It is a non-profit organization that works together with other community-based groups to provide women and their children with a place to stay during daytime when most other shelters are closed. As a non-profit group, the Living Room relies mostly on the volunteers to keep the program going and on donations for funding. One easy way you can help this organization to further its cause is by donating your old vehicle to them. Your car donation would surely go a long way in assuring that homeless women and children in Sonoma County and nearby communities would have the food and shelter they need to survive.

A program born out of concern

The Living Room first opened its doors to homeless and at risk women and children in 1993. Back then, it provided homeless women with a loving, safe, and warm environment were food, coffee, and other drinks were served. Initially, the organization served around five women every day, three days per week. Word soon spread out and by 1995, the Living Room has already served over 1500 clients. The program increasing became popular through time and since 2002, it has been serving an average of 10,000-13,000 clients per year.

The Living Room today

Today, the organization boasts a sunny and very homey environment where women and children are provided with basic human needs as well as spiritual and financial support. Aside from food and shelter, the Living Room also provides its clients with temporary social support services that are geared towards helping them develop their own capabilities for self-sufficiency and independence.

Specifically, the services provided by The Living Room include healthy meals, personal hygiene and emergency supplies, companionship services, developmental classes, and communication resources in the form of telephones, computers, and Internet connection. The organization also provides referral services to help their clients get in touch with proper medical and mental health professionals, food distribution agencies, low cost housing programs, and social service agencies.
